TOP 5 TO VISIT ON BANGKOK'S RIVER
#1
DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET
If you are paying a visit in Bangkok you should not miss it. Great fruits and veggies on the market and it is an amazing experience cruising around in a boat and buying from the locals.
#2
KLONG TOUR IN BANGKOK
The best way to get a taste of Bangkok’s past is to explore the klongs (canals) on a long-tail boat. On the west side of the river in Thonburi you can get glimpses of what Bangkok was like before the skyscrapers and six-lane expressways. Many people still live on or around the canals. Which can be a life changing experience to see on the one side rich and glory and on the other poverty.
#3
AYUTTHAYA TOUR
Named as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, the historic city of Ayutthaya is a constant reminder of its past glory. Said to have been built even before the Ayutthaya period (around the 14th century), Wat Mahathat used to be the centre of Buddhism during the prosperous period. Its distinct features include ruined stupas surrounded by laterite walls, rows of headless Buddha images and the Buddha’s head carved within overgrown tree roots.
WAT ARUN
Wat Arun, the most iconic temple of Bangkok is located on Thonburi side of Bangkok, almost opposite to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. The distinctive shape of Wat Arun consists of a central 'Prang' (a khmer style tower) surrounded by four smaller towers all incrusted with faience from plates and potteries.
THAI WOODEN CRAFT
Located all around the river you can visit craft places. Amazing wooden pictures and furniture made from one or two pieces of wood are really a thing that will take your breath away. You can watch the artists while they work or find an incredible piece for your living room back home.
